There is growing popularity of using reclaimed wood in refurbishment projects and new construction. It’s a “green” product and doesn’t require cutting down a forest to make. Comparing it to distressed new wood, it looks better and has a rich patina. I always thought distressing new wood was a little strange considering you can buy authentic vintage wood antiques, flooring and etc.. I’ve seen it used in new home construction and in a couple of Lofts. Reclaimed wood looks smart with a contemporary interior and a traditional decor alike. As demand grows, so will the distributors selling it. Here is a link to the Mountain Lumber Company, they sell Oak flooring from Guinness beer vats and sell it in North America. What a fantastic idea!!

Also consider using Douglas fir flooring milled from old-growth boomstick logs rediscovered in the Columbia River. Tight grained, beautiful mineral staining, and affordable.

Hardwood Flooring is beautiful when created with professionalism. There is much that goes into wood floors that may get overlooked. The difference between a veteran and a rookie is tremendous. Pay for the journeyman and you will have very long lasting beautiful floors.
I’m redoing a home and might go with old wood. Thanks
Thank you! very good.
There is a lot of craftsmanship that goes into hardwood flooring. The difference between an expert installation and a weekend warrior is like night and day.
